Watch for paint that bubbles or ripples on trim. Soft spots in the floor near an outside wall and doors that suddenly stick can both point to damaged framing. Damage in the yard counts too. If you are seeing termite activity in stumps, landscape timbers, or fence posts, a colony is already feeding within reach of the house.
