Exclusion is the physical work of sealing the ground-level entry points mice and rats use to get into your home — foundation gaps, sill plate openings, garage door sweeps, and similar reachable weak spots. We use materials matched to the surface: copper mesh and sealant in masonry gaps, sheet metal or hardware cloth where chewing is a concern, and replacement components for worn door sweeps. It's a one-time scope of work that follows a thorough walk-through.
Is exclusion included with rodent control?

No — exclusion is a separate, optional estimate. Our rodent control plans work on their own and handle the active population: bait stations, monitoring, follow-up service. Exclusion is an add-on for homeowners who also want to seal the most reachable entry points to further reduce future activity. We'll quote each separately so you can see exactly what each piece costs.
Do you do wildlife removal — raccoons, squirrels, bats?

No. We're focused on rodent exclusion specifically — mice and rats. For raccoons, squirrels, bats, and other wildlife trapping or removal we refer out to specialists who carry the right permits and equipment for that work. If you're not sure what you're dealing with, call us and we can usually identify it from a description and point you in the right direction.
How much does rodent exclusion cost in Alexandria, VA?

Exclusion is priced per home after a walk-through to identify entry points — free phone quote. Pricing depends on the size of the home, the number and severity of entry points, and the materials required — a tight 1,500-sq-ft townhouse with three obvious gaps is a very different scope than an older 3,500-sq-ft Northern Virginia home with a stone foundation and multiple ground-level gaps. We do a thorough walk-through, then build you a written scope with a fixed price before any work starts.
How long does the work take?

Most exclusion jobs are completed in a single day. Larger homes or more extensive scopes can run longer. We schedule the walk-through and estimate first, then come back to do the work on a separate visit so you have time to review the scope and ask questions before we start.
Do you guarantee no rodents will get back in? +
No — we won't promise that. Exclusion dramatically reduces the entry points available, and combined with active rodent control it's the most effective approach we know of. But homes settle, new gaps open with weather and time, and a determined rodent can find pencil-sized openings. What we do guarantee is the work itself — the seals we install hold up, and if something we sealed fails within the warranty window we come back and fix it.
What materials and products do you use? +
Copper mesh for masonry gaps (rodents can't chew through it and it won't rust), polyurethane sealant rated for exterior use, sheet metal flashing where wood meets foundation, and matched replacement components for worn door sweeps and garage thresholds. We don't use steel wool or expanding foam alone — both fail within a year or two in our climate.
Is there a contract? +
No binding contract for exclusion — it's a one-time scope of work on a written proposal. If you're also on a rodent control plan, that runs month-to-month with 30 days notice to cancel. We don't lock anyone into multi-year agreements.
How soon can you start? +
We usually get the initial walk-through scheduled within a week, sometimes sooner.
