Pest Control Built for Ashburn's Homes and Neighborhoods
Ashburn grew fast. What used to be quiet farmland is now home to over 50,000 residents in neighborhoods like Ashburn Village, Ashburn Farm, Broadlands, and Brambleton. That growth stirred up the local ecosystem. As fields turned into homes, pests that lived in open land moved into basements, garages, and wall voids. Ashburn pest control takes someone who knows these neighborhoods inside and out.
Better Termite & Pest Control has served Northern Virginia families since 1968. Our research team cut 9 harsh chemicals from our programs and switched to reduced-risk products like Essentria, Alpine, and EcoVia. We've treated over 100,000 homes across the DC Metro area. We bring that experience to every Ashburn property.
Every plan includes unlimited callbacks at no extra cost. If pests come back between scheduled visits, so do we. No binding contracts. Call 703-683-2000 and talk directly with a licensed technician about your home.

Ashburn General Pest Control Services
Ashburn's homes create specific pest patterns. Homes built in the late 1980s through 1990s in Ashburn Village and Ashburn Farm have aging wood, worn window seals, and thick landscaping that let ants, spiders, and centipedes inside. Newer townhomes near One Loudoun and Moorefield have shared walls, pipe chases, and tight trash areas that mice and roaches use to get in. We match every treatment to the building type and pest activity on your property.
Our licensed technicians start with a full inspection of your home, inside and out. We check foundation cracks, sump pit areas, garage door seals, pipe entry points, and landscaping beds along the foundation. Then we treat cracks, crevices, entry points, and the perimeter with products our research team has vetted.
What We Treat For
Our programs cover 35+ local pests. That includes ants, spiders, roaches, stink bugs, centipedes, camel crickets, earwigs, silverfish, millipedes, clover mites, fleas, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and more.
Ashburn Mosquito and Tick Control
Ashburn sits in the middle of prime mosquito habitat. Beaverdam Reservoir covers 300+ acres of open water with forested shoreline just west of Brambleton. Bles Park has 124 acres of wetlands and streams near the Potomac. Ashburn Farm's five stocked ponds, Ashburn Village's lakes, and dozens of HOA retention basins all create breeding spots within walking distance of homes.
Our mosquito program runs April through October. We apply monthly barrier sprays to plants, under decks, around eaves, and in shaded spots where mosquitoes rest. We also offer the In2Care system. It uses mosquitoes themselves to spread larvicide to hidden breeding spots that spray alone can't reach.
For tick control, we apply spring and fall granular treatments plus targeted sprays along the lawn-to-woods edge. Homes near the W&OD Trail, Beaverdam Reservoir trails, and Broadlands' wildlife habitat areas face the highest tick risk.
Ashburn Rodent Control
Rodents are one of the most urgent pest calls we get from Ashburn homeowners. Mice and rats chew wiring, get into food, and leave droppings that pose health risks. In Ashburn's townhome communities near One Loudoun, Moorefield, and Goose Creek Village, shared walls and pipe chases let rodents travel between units. Attached garages with worn door seals give them a direct path inside.
Creek paths along Broad Run and the W&OD Trail give rodents a route from green spaces into nearby streets. Homes in Ashburn Farm and Ashburn Village that back up to ponds, trails, and wooded common areas deal with steady rodent pressure.
Our 4-Step Rodent Protocol
- Full Property Inspection: We check every entry point and nesting site, from garage door seals and sump pits to pipe openings
- Bait Station Placement: Tamper-resistant stations set at key spots based on what we find during inspection
- Follow-Up Visits: We return at 1 and 3 weeks to check stations, move them if needed, and track progress
- Ongoing Care: Tri-annual visits to re-bait stations, check for new signs, and keep rodents from coming back
Ashburn Termite Protection
Northern Virginia has heavy termite activity, and Ashburn homes are at high risk. Most homes here are wood-framed with brick fronts and vinyl or fiber-cement siding. The brick hides the wood framing behind it. Add thick mulch beds against foundations, a humid climate with 42-45 inches of rain per year, and basements in nearly every home. These are the conditions termites love.
Homes built in the 1990s in Ashburn Village and Ashburn Farm are now 25-30+ years old. That's when termite damage starts to show. Newer homes in Brambleton and Loudoun Valley Estates aren't immune. Construction often stirs up existing colonies that then look for new food sources.
Sentricon: Colony Elimination at the Source
We install and maintain the Sentricon system with Always Active technology. Bait stations go around your foundation. They hold material that termite workers choose over wood. Workers carry it back to the colony, which stops the molting cycle and wipes out the whole colony, queen included. Sentricon gives you 365-day monitoring and protection with little disruption to your yard. Every Sentricon program includes a yearly termite inspection.
Why Ashburn Homes Face Year-Round Pest Pressure
Ashburn's rapid growth created the pest problems that homeowners deal with today. When Ashburn Village broke ground in the late 1980s and Ashburn Farm followed in the 1990s, farmland turned into homes. Wildlife and insects that lived in those fields moved toward the new houses. The pattern kept going through the 2000s with Broadlands, Brambleton, and Belmont Country Club. It picked up again with One Loudoun and Moorefield near the Silver Line metro.
Several Ashburn neighborhoods keep natural green space on purpose. Broadlands is a certified wildlife habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. Ashburn Farm has 28 miles of trails and five stocked ponds. These green areas are great for the community, but they also act as pest highways that bring ticks, mosquitoes, rodents, and other pests right to backyard fences and decks.
The W&OD Trail runs along Ashburn's northern edge, linking green space straight to homes. Beaverdam Reservoir and its 600+ acres of woods sit between Brambleton and Broadlands. Bles Park's wetlands border Broad Run east of town. All of this water, tree cover, and wildlife habitat feeds pest numbers that push into Ashburn homes year after year.

What Your Ashburn Area Neighbors Are Saying
"I've had nothing but great experiences for 3 years now. Their consistent, reliable service really stands out for me, and everyone is always kind and easy to talk to. Kamaal is fantastic—he really listens to my concerns and works with me to come up with the best plan. He even keeps me updated on pest trends in my area so we can stay ahead of any problems. I even had them go and take care of a mouse problem for my grandmother. Cleared out an infestation!"
"We've had a subscription service with this company for yrs, since moving into our current house, and realizing it was rather...spidery. But NO MORE! Better Termite uses pet-friendly, but not spider-friendly products, and we are now creepy crawly-free! Over the years, they've also tackled ants, bees, and HORRIBLE paper wasps!"
"Steve was very accommodating and patient in explaining what we're dealing with and what measures he recommended to address our rodent issue. He walked through and assessed our home thoroughly for areas of concern and walked my wife and I through the treatment plan and why he recommended the treatments. Steve's customer service skills were fantastic."
"I highly recommend this company for your home pest control. Their technicians are thorough and have prevented any unwanted problems from happening on our property. During our last treatment, Jasmine took care of our outdoor spider webs without us even asking. That attention to detail speaks volumes."
"As a small, family owned business, they are able to personalize their approach based on your needs. It's clear that they prioritize customer service and communication. We recently had a swarm of a stinging insect take shelter under our ground-level deck, and they researched, bought necessary equipment, and came up with the best way to treat it."
