Mosquito Control Built for Remington's River-and-Farm Setting

Remington sits along the Rappahannock River in southern Fauquier County, surrounded by water on nearly every side. The river creates miles of low-lying breeding habitat where mosquitoes thrive.

The Lucky Hill Greenway runs through a constructed wetland behind the Riverton subdivision. The C.F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area borders the town with wet bottomlands and forested swamps. Add in dozens of farm ponds, horse troughs, and drainage ditches across the county's horse country, and Remington has some of the worst mosquito pressure in the region.

Better Termite & Pest Control has served Northern Virginia families since 1968. Our research team removed 9 harsh chemicals from our programs and chose reduced-risk products like Essentria and EcoVia instead. Whether you live in the Historic District, Riverton, near Lucky Hill Road, or on a rural lot along the river, we build your treatment plan around the water sources and vegetation on your property.

Every Remington mosquito control plan includes unlimited callbacks at no extra cost. If mosquitoes come back between scheduled visits, so do we. No binding contracts. Call 703-683-2000 and talk directly with a licensed technician about your property.

How Remington Mosquito Control Works

We start with a full property inspection. Our licensed technicians locate every breeding source and resting area on your lot. In Remington, that means checking drainage along the Lucky Hill Greenway, standing water in bird baths and neglected containers, clogged gutters on historic homes along Main Street and Church Street, and low spots near the Rappahannock River floodplain.

We then use backpack sprayers to apply a targeted mix of fast-acting spray for adult mosquitoes and growth regulator to break the mosquito lifecycle. We focus on shrub lines, deck undersides, eave overhangs, ivy patches, and the thick vegetation where mosquitoes hide during the day. We treat where mosquitoes actually live, not your entire yard.

Each monthly visit builds on the last to create layered protection. If activity picks up after a summer thunderstorm or humid stretch, just call us. We come back between visits at no extra cost.

In2Care: Reaching Breeding Sites Beyond Your Yard

Remington's river, wetlands, and farm ponds push mosquitoes into neighborhoods from every direction. Spray-only programs can't reach every breeding source hidden in the bottomland along the Rappahannock or the constructed wetland behind Riverton. In2Care turns mosquitoes into the delivery system.

We place stations in shaded areas around your property. Egg-laying females are drawn to the water inside. When they land, they pick up larvicide and a fungal agent from treated gauze strips. Those mosquitoes then spread the material to other water sources across your property and into neighboring areas, reaching hidden spots along stream corridors that no technician could find or spray.

Why In2Care Works Well in Remington

  • Reaches breeding sites in wooded corridors along the Rappahannock River and the Lucky Hill Greenway wetlands beyond your property line
  • Targets both adult mosquitoes and developing larvae in a single system
  • Works continuously between technician visits with no repeated spraying
  • Pairs with barrier sprays to give you dual-layer protection through the entire season

Remington Tick Control for River and Rural Properties

Remington blends a small-town historic core directly into horse country and forest. The C.F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area covers hundreds of acres of dense forest, bottomland, and wetland just outside town. The Lucky Hill Greenway runs through wooded corridors into residential areas. Rural lots along Sumerduck Road and properties near the Rappahannock River sit on the edge of heavy tick habitat. All of that puts ticks within steps of your back door.

Our tick program uses granular treatments in spring and fall when tick populations spike. From April through October, we spray along the edge where your mowed lawn meets natural woodland. That border is where most tick encounters with people and pets happen.

Tick Control Strategy

  • Spring and fall granular treatments during peak tick activity windows
  • Targeted spray along lawn-to-woods edges where exposure is highest
  • All products vetted by our research team for lower environmental impact
  • Especially important for Remington properties backing up to farmland, forest, or the Rappahannock corridor

Why Remington Has Heavy Mosquito Pressure

Remington covers ZIP code 22734 in southern Fauquier County, right at the Rappahannock River crossing. The river creates a wide corridor of low ground, brush, and standing water where mosquitoes breed in huge numbers. The Lucky Hill Greenway runs through a constructed wetland behind the Riverton subdivision, adding another breeding source within walking distance of homes. Nearby, the C.F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area includes sandy bottomlands and extensive wetland habitat that support large mosquito populations.

The Asian tiger mosquito is the most aggressive species here. It bites during the day and thrives under Remington's mature tree canopy in the Historic District and in wooded lots along Lucky Hill Road. Common house mosquitoes emerge at dusk and breed in larger standing water. Farm ponds, horse troughs, and drainage ditches throughout the county's horse country all feed the problem.

Remington's warm, humid summers push highs into the mid-80s with over 40 inches of rainfall each year. The Historic District homes have aging gutters, crawlspaces, and foundation plantings that hold moisture. Newer homes in the Riverton subdivision sit next to constructed wetlands.

Rural properties along Sumerduck Road and the US 15/17/29 corridor border active farmland and forest. Every part of Remington has its own mosquito pressure, and each one needs a targeted approach.

Your Remington Mosquito Control Schedule

March: We apply larvicide and granular tick treatments before mosquito season starts. Treating early, before temperatures stay above 50 degrees, gives you a head start on the whole season.

April through October: Monthly barrier sprays cover foliage, building edges, and shaded resting spots. Each visit builds on the last. Homes near the Rappahannock River, the Riverton wetlands, or surrounding farmland may need visits every 3 weeks during peak summer.

November: Final granular tick treatment and tips to prepare your property for winter. Cutting down on overwintering populations means fewer mosquitoes when spring returns.

After Every Visit

We email you a report listing what we did and which products we used. If mosquito activity picks up between visits, call us for a free retreat. You never pay extra to get the results you signed up for.

Bundle Mosquito Control with Year-Round Protection

Most Remington homeowners deal with more than just mosquitoes. The same river, wetlands, and forests that breed mosquitoes also push ticks, ants, spiders, and rodents toward your home. Historic District homes have brick and stone foundations with settling cracks that invite pests. Newer homes in Riverton sit next to wetlands. Rural properties along the Rappahannock face heavy wildlife pressure year-round.

Our SeasonGuard+ program puts mosquito control, tick prevention, Sentricon termite monitoring, and general pest management into one monthly plan starting at $95/month. You get 9 visits per year, one bill, and unlimited callbacks for any covered pest.

What SeasonGuard+ Covers

  • Monthly mosquito barrier sprays from April through October
  • Spring and fall granular tick treatments during peak activity windows
  • Sentricon termite baiting system with annual inspection
  • Coverage for 35 common local pests including ants, spiders, crickets, and mice
  • Unlimited callbacks for any covered pest between scheduled visits
