Mosquito Control Built for Burke's Lake-Filled Landscape

Burke is surrounded by water. Burke Lake covers 218 acres. Royal Lake adds another 38. Then there's Lake Braddock, Lake Barton, and dozens of HOA ponds. All of them create mosquito breeding habitat just steps from your back door. The 888-acre Burke Lake Park and 30+ miles of wooded paths through Burke Centre give mosquitoes shaded spots to rest and multiply.

Better Termite & Pest Control has served Burke since 1968. Our research team has removed 9 harsh chemicals from our programs. We chose lower-risk products like Essentria and EcoVia instead. Whether you live in Burke Centre, Kings Park, Signal Hill, or Cherry Run, we know what drives mosquito problems in your neighborhood and treat the right way.

Every Burke mosquito control plan includes unlimited callbacks at no extra cost. If mosquitoes come back between scheduled visits, so do we. No binding contracts. Call 703-683-2000 and talk directly with a licensed technician about your property.

How Burke Mosquito Control Works

We start with a full property inspection. Our licensed technicians find every breeding source and resting area on your lot. In Burke, that means checking drainage near HOA ponds, leaf litter along wooded borders, standing water in gutters, birdbaths, and those forgotten planter saucers on your deck.

We then use backpack sprayers to apply a two-part treatment: an adulticide that kills mosquitoes on contact and an insect growth regulator that stops new ones from developing. We spray shrub lines, deck undersides, fence lines, and shaded areas where mosquitoes hide during the day. We don't blanket-spray your whole yard. We hit the spots where mosquitoes actually live.

Monthly visits during the active season build on each other to create layered protection. Our unlimited callback policy means we return between visits if activity picks up after a heavy storm or a particularly humid stretch near Burke Lake.

In2Care: Mosquito Control That Spreads Itself

Burke Lake, Royal Lake, Lake Braddock, and dozens of ponds keep feeding mosquitoes into Burke neighborhoods. Spray-only programs can't reach every breeding source. In2Care turns mosquitoes into the delivery system.

We place specially designed stations in shaded areas around your property. Egg-laying females fly to the water inside, where they pick up larvicide and a fungal control agent from treated gauze strips. Those mosquitoes then carry the material to other water sources across your property and beyond, including hidden spots in Burke Centre's pond systems and wooded corridors that no technician could ever reach.

Why In2Care Works Well in Burke

  • Auto-dissemination reaches breeding sites in lakeside areas and wooded greenbelts beyond your property line
  • Targets both adult mosquitoes and developing larvae in a single system
  • Works continuously between technician visits with no repeated spraying
  • Complements barrier sprays to provide dual-layer protection through the entire season

Burke Tick Control for Wooded Properties

Burke's parks, tall trees, and miles of wooded trails put tick habitat right next to residential lots. Neighborhoods in Signal Hill, Kings Park, and homes near Burke Lake Park or the Burke Centre greenbelts face the strongest tick pressure. Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses are a real concern in this part of Virginia.

Our tick program uses granular treatments in spring and fall when tick numbers spike. From April through October, we also spray the border where your lawn meets wooded or natural areas. This edge is where most people and pets pick up ticks.

Tick Control Strategy

  • Spring and fall granular treatments during peak tick activity windows
  • Ecotone spray along lawn-to-woods transition zones where exposure is highest
  • Damminix Tick Tubes that target ticks through the mouse-tick lifecycle
  • All products vetted by our research team for effectiveness and reduced environmental impact

Why Burke Has Heavy Mosquito Pressure

Burke has more water than most suburbs in Fairfax County. Burke Lake covers 218 acres inside the 888-acre Burke Lake Park to the southwest. Royal Lake (38 acres) sits to the north along Pohick Creek. Lake Braddock, Lake Barton, and a chain of HOA ponds and stormwater basins fill in the gaps. About 1.2% of Burke's total area is water, and almost all of it sits close to homes.

The Asian tiger mosquito is Burke's worst offender. It bites during the day and loves the shaded, tree-lined yards in Burke Centre, Cherry Run, and Croftwood. The common house mosquito shows up at dusk and breeds in tiny puddles in gutters, wheelbarrow trays, and forgotten planter saucers. Both species spread fast through Burke's packed neighborhoods.

Virginia's summers bring highs in the mid-80s°F, humidity above 70%, and 3 to 4 inches of rain per month from May through August. Most Burke homes went up between the 1960s and 1980s on lots now covered by tall oaks and maples. All that shade, moisture, and standing water keeps mosquitoes active well into October. It makes Burke one of the toughest spots for mosquitoes in all of Fairfax County.

Your Burke Mosquito Control Schedule

March: Pre-season larvicide and granular tick treatments. We hit early breeding sites around Burke's lakes and ponds before temps reach 50°F and mosquitoes start hatching. Getting ahead early is the best move you can make.

April through October: Monthly barrier sprays cover foliage, building edges, and shaded resting spots. Each visit builds on the last one. Homes near Burke Lake, Royal Lake, or Burke Centre's ponds may need visits every 3 weeks during the worst summer months.

November: Fall wrap-up with final granular tick treatment and property winterization recommendations. Reducing overwintering populations gives you a lower-pressure start the following spring.

After Every Visit

We email you a report after every visit showing what we did and which products we used. Our unlimited callback policy means we come back between visits if mosquitoes pick up again. You never pay extra to get the results you signed up for.

Bundle Mosquito Control with Year-Round Protection

Most Burke homeowners deal with more than just mosquitoes. The same lakes and woods that breed mosquitoes also bring ticks, ants, spiders, and rodents looking for a way into your home. Burke's colonials, split-levels, townhomes in Burke Centre, and older homes in Kings Park all have their own weak spots where pests get in.

Our SeasonGuard+ program puts mosquito control, tick prevention, Sentricon termite monitoring, and general pest management into one monthly plan starting at $95/month. You get 9 visits per year timed to each season, one simple bill, and unlimited callbacks for any covered pest.

What SeasonGuard+ Covers

  • Monthly mosquito barrier sprays from April through October
  • Spring and fall granular tick treatments plus Damminix Tick Tubes
  • Sentricon termite baiting system with annual inspection
  • Coverage for 35 common local pests including ants, spiders, crickets, and mice
  • Unlimited callbacks for any covered pest between scheduled visits
